great game, really fun to play, catchy music, and it didn't lag which is a really big thing for me. My one issue is that as the bombs begin to develop into stronger and stronger weapons, i found that many of the levels could be beaten with 3 simple clicks on the first try. perhaps think about changing the level design up/ making it a little more complex. I think that one easy thing would be to increase the size of the levels over time. If you're gonna have items that can basically kill everything in one click, then you've got to make the levels more difficult to compensate for the awesomeness :) great job!

this game is great, but ive run into huge issues with controlling the colonists properly... i left this sitting here for 30 minutes straight with everyone set to build, but my workers still hadn't finished building one segment of electrical wiring, effectively killing everyone in my colony or forcing them to desert for lack of food/ oxygen. It seems as though they spend much more time just wandering around doing nothing than the actual jobs they are supposed to perform.
Also: even when every unit was set on guard, i found that the combat was incredibly luck based and shots fired seemed completely random/sporadic. Essentially, i think this is awesome and i had a good time, but you really need to make sure the colonists are actually within the player's control. after playing a couple of levels, i started to just leave every job on for every colonist, because otherwise i found that it took a ridiculous amount of time to accomplish anything.

i found it incredibly difficult to balance on small platforms, and sometimes the jumps were unresponsive/ the physics didnt seem to hold up right. I'd get momentum going on a swing to make a longer jump and find that i would just level out to the normal speed upon leaving the ground, effectively canceling out any kind of impetus i would have accumulated

seems nice. I agree with the guys who say this has a lot of potential. One thing i noticed right off the bat, however, is that the cursor can move freely from the camera/ there is some kind of buffer zone before the camera turns. This is interesting, but overall i found that it made the controls jerky and difficult to get the hang of.

excessive lag.
ive played a hundred games like this, and although this game is fine, thats why im only giving u two stars. there's nothing really wrong with the game, but id much rather play the 20 different versions of this that can run on my PC, and i see no reason for me to be moving at a crawl the whole time when this game is no different except for the skins. i even tried to DL on my ipod to see if it was my flash plugins, but its still ridiculously slow there too. I know you're trying to make games that are practical profit wise, but you need to put in more work simplifying the code than this. (skyrim on xbox is faster, and that is just sad)

idk why people are hating on this. sure, it's simple, but i think its fine how it is. the only thing i thought was wrong with it was that the medals would cover a portion of the screen for too long, so id either have to wait or tread blindly for a second. maybe add a border on the top/ bottom to fix this.
in terms of suggestions for sequels/ improved versions, maybe try making the balrogs fit closer to the mouse, or maybe adding gems or coins to collect which can be spent to make your cursor smaller/ able to take a hit or two after upgrades. think about also adding enemies for a pac man like effect.

great job. like i said, i dont know why people are hating, but dont listen to them if they gave u 1 star. this is a game that has been done before, but thats no reason to heed all of their negativity. keep up the good work.

MiscritsQuest responds:

k thanks! ill think about using some of ur ideas.

thank you for the conveniently placed mute button. your music is fine, i just prefer to listen to youtube/etc and have been fed up with unmuteable games recently. That said, i think this game would be vastly improved by one minor change... make it so that you can buy whichever gun at whatever point of the game so long as you have enough money. This allows for actual strategy and difference in gameplay from attempt to attempt, and that way i could skip certain guns which i found ineffective. good work!

as ive said on the last 20 entries ive seen: PLEASE mute the intro music or at least allow it to be muted. your volume controls in game do not seem to work at all, and as many other players do, i constantly listen to my music while gaming. it's simply unnacceptable for this to be shoved in my face... i know someone spent the time to make the music, and i will listen to it. but having to repeatedly pause my songs looking for a mute switch just kills me. I just have to say that i didn't even give this game a chance based on the fact that the music would not shut the fuck up... i dont mean to be a dick, but you really, really need to consider that looped chiptune music is obnoxious...

Hangedman responds:

Good point. Fixed. M is universal mute/unmute. Options menu can now use arrow keys LR as well as C.

i've played through 5 lives and found only 2 coins so far? what the hell are you thinking? so far ive done nothing but move around on a solid blue screen for 10 second intervals, most of the time seeing absolutely nothing happen... I really usually just offer constructive criticism, but this game needs a SERIOUS revamp...

this is a really great game. It needs quite a lot of work, however. I have a few suggestions/ complaints.

=You should allow WASD movement as well as the arrow keys

=You should allow the player to pause and view controls

=There was no visible point or currency system to explain the upgrades, and i wasn't sure that clicking the plus signs was even working.

=Consider listing the level of each upgrade next to the plus signs.

=I found that the only weapon which was effective was the stick, and although after beating the game i realized you could effectively shoot all of the weapons at the same time, it was still much more practical to focus on clicking faster.

=You may want to consider allowing the player to hold down buttons like 1, 2, 3, and 4 to use weapons. or the mouse to shoot, because i found that the only way to defeat the bugs, especially those large beetles, was to click ridiculously fast.

I probably sound overly critical, but i think this is an amazing game, and had a lot of fun playing it. Keep up the good work.

DarkantheHero responds:

I'd love to include a lot of those, and have even tried for a few of them, but we used the free version of Construct 2 to make it, and that limits how many events you can have in a game. A lot of it came down to that, and we had to sacrifice a lot of ideas. I'm buying a license for my next game so I can make it as big as it needs to be. Thanks for your suggestions, we're going to try and keep the next game's combat simpler in terms of use, but larger in terms of upgrading/stat points.

Thanks again.
